Grant Gassman Elected Mayor and Council Approves Bills
The council conducted a roll call vote with all members answering aye as Grant Gassman was duly elected mayor. He filed his oath of office and bond, approved by the council and filed with the clerk. Polio patient Norman Weber to be moved to Minneapolis hospital
An application by a Minneapolis polio hospital seeks Norman Weber’s transfer as soon as a vacancy arises. He has spent five months in the iron lung and shows some improvement. Nearby roadwork continues on the John Behrens farm as a high grade is built, with completion expected soon if ground does not freeze. Minnie Nason remains in Sioux City for medical treatment. The Perry Hancock baby beef club met December 11 with seventeen members. Mr Steinbeck led and lunches were served by Mrs Fymbo and Mrs Maloney as plans were made to weigh calves and participate in basketball and baseball next year. Mrs Walter Nelson and others attended the Akron Eastern Star meeting Friday. Electric wiring on several farms is complete or nearly finished.

Lake View Lassies 4-H Club Plans For Next Year
Five members of the Lake View Lassies 4-H Club met at the Porter Maynard home on Friday November 28 to map the year ahead choosing the B plan of home economics. Each girl earned a certificate for completing the C plan last year and lunch was served. A reporter noted Carolyn Maynard. I also thank friends who visited and sent flowers and cards during my Akron Community Hospital stay and express gratitude to doctors and nursing staff.
