A local gift shop advertises a wide selection for all ages and budgets. It promotes Christmas stationery, Schaffer fountain pens, cigars, watches, clocks, jewelry, silverware, cameras, and numerous novelties, urging shoppers to compare prices and look before buying.
Bert A Port, alleging fraud and negligence by Levitt Investment Co, seeks 8417.98 in damages linked to two Highland lots he purchased after repeated urging. He claims promises of value, quick rain clearance, home help, and sewer work led to a costly, unsanitary property that ruined health and work, with his daughter’s government death compensation funding the purchase. He cites water pooling, a child’s death, moved residence, and threats to forfeit for only 85.05 paid, plus 2500 in mental anguish.

Mrs Harriet Wakeman a longtime Akron resident died December 18 1920 at age 77 19 17. She was born January 26 1843 in Westport Connecticut and lived in Union County Iowa before settling near Akron in 1876. Survived by two children Henry Hartung and Mrs Jennie L Waterbury, a sister Mrs Jane Waterbury, five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Funeral held at Akron Baptist Church with interment Riverside Cemetery.
Sunday school and young people hold practice for Christmas programs next Sunday with services to follow. The St Paul church schedules a 2 00 practice and a 7 50 Christmas tree presentation on December 25. Brule Creek plans 10 30 morning practice for the Christ mas program with a 2 20 p m rendering on December 26 and Christmas Day services at 2 30 p m. Berglaker, Pastor. Special candy and toy promos noted along with Red Cross financials and sewer assessment notices.
