Young Bride Joins South Dakota 4-H Delegation to Congress

An 18-year-old Union County girl, newly married to Wayne Stoutenburg, traveled with 28 South Dakota delegates to the national 4-H club congress in Chicago. Garnett Stoutenburg earned her trip by building a 12-cow dairy herd, mastering dairy judging, and showcasing dairy products. The couple, who wed two weeks ago, will farm near Akron Iowa and remain active in 4-H leadership. South Dakota winners also included Marge Larson, Roland Schwanke, and Cherie Mitchell. The delegation enjoyed a farewell party at the Stevens Hotel and the parade of delegates and livestock through the arena.
