Farmers get until January 15 to file tax declarations
The new income tax law lets farmers with two thirds or more of gross income from farming file declarations of income by January 15 of the following year instead of December 15. Final returns may be filed by January 15, removing the need to file an estimate. The rule alters only certain farm incomes and introduces a short form with a tax table for those under 5,000 AGI. Personal exemptions remain 500 for each taxpayer, spouse, and dependents under normal and surtax rules.
