Mary Margaret Michael out of school with chin abscess. Kaye and Gerda The Snow Queen operetta to be staged.

Special correspondence reports the New Century club sponsors a Christmas program at the M E church on Sunday evening December 23 under Bird Harris and Ruth Evans. The item notes several residents' flu illnesses and recent travels including Mrs Easton, Carol Johnson, Amanda Hendricks, Bill Kelley, Orin Harris, and Mrs Harris attending a Shorthorn sale in Sioux City with her.
Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Taylor returned home after a several days in Waterloo and Cedar Falls Iowa. Dorothea Taylor returned to Cedar Falls to resume school duties after Thanksgiving. Mrs. H Anderson, away three weeks, returned to Akron. L C Huebsch and Jack celebrated a birthday at Earl Gate home. Several ladies attended a dramatic school in LeMars Thursday. Orville Harbeck of Sioux City visited. Will Buryanek and son William of Vermillion visited. Mrs. Frank Smith won a quilt made by Trinity Lutheran Ladies Aid. proceeds aid Old Folks Home and Orphanage.
Union Creek church plans Sunday evening services at 8 o'clock with choir rehearsal afterward. The Luther League annual meeting and Christmas party are set for Tuesday December 18 at Luther Hall with a 10¢ gift and refreshments. Local notes include visits and shoppers among residents and Sunday school children rehearsing for the Christmas program.
A Sunday morning service at 10 o clock announced with many local visitations. Kenneth Ludwig of Alcester spent Sunday with Dorothy Hultgren. Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Johnson hosted relatives. Extended visits and calls occurred at the Grover Wick home and Alfred Sommervold home. Marion Hultgren stayed with Dorothy over Saturday night. Mrs. Alve Ericson has improved after illness. Wayne Waterman of Sioux City visited his parents and Mrs. Mary Larson with Miss Hannah Sellbere planned to spend the winter in Sioux City. Roy Carlson and Clifford Johnson hosted Friday evening calls.
Extension economists at Iowa State College in the 1935 Farm Outlook forecast light egg supplies through winter and spring with prices above average. They warn higher prices may justify liberal hen feeding as grain costs push liquidation of poultry, especially in the Midwest. By Oct 1 farm flocks were 7 percent smaller than 1933, with larger declines in young chickens due to hatchings and feed shortages. Heavy early marketing of hens continued.
Passage notes a notable drop in the number of young stock sent to market during winter. It also suggests average weights will likely be lower unless feed and poultry product prices improve, a scenario deemed unlikely.
The C N W Railroad trimmed about half the Hawarden to Huron section crews, including Alcester’s. Foreman William Mueller has not announced future plans. In Chicago, the National Ski Association elected Sigurd Knutsen of Canton president, replacing Lieb Deyo. the 1935 national ski championship will be at Canton’s Sioux Valley club slide, with the event likely in January or February.
