Akron youths hurt in Beresford auto spill
Three Akron young men were injured when their 1949 Plymouth coupe left Highway 77 south of Beresford, rolled on the second curve, and rested on its left side. Larry Parker suffered back injuries and possible neck fracture. Ronald Parker and Richard Beck had multiple bruises and lacerations. Investigating officers cited the nearly demolished car and transported Larry Parker to Akron hospital, then Sioux City.

Gas Rate Increase Notified by Northern Natural Gas
Northern Natural Gas Company of Omaha announced last week an increase in its gas rates effective November 27 for customers in Iowa Kansas Nebraska Minnesota and South Dakota. Iowa Public Service says the raise will cost the company an extra 726000 per year over its system. District Manager D F Ketelsen of Iowa Public notes the May notice of the planned November hike.

Service Company reports protests to Northern over its proposal, says increases will begin after December 26. Firm gas rates rise, with the first 2000 cubic feet per month exempt. Over that, charges rise 6.8 cents per 1000 cubic feet. If federal regulators disallow or reduce the increase, Northern will refund the overcharges to Iowa Public Service Company, which will pass refunds to customers.

On December 3, 1958 at the Renken home Vice President Wendell Renken called the meeting to order. The secretary and treasurer reports were read and approved. Wendell Renken presented a demonstration from last month and Roger Frerichs led a discussion named the Tools. Members enrolled in Iowa 4-H projects, Baby Reeves and Junior Feeders, completed enrollment reports. The meeting closed with the 4-H Pledge and a lunch afterward. Reporter Dale Huettmann.
