Taft Lands at Fort Monroe and Visits Richmond
President Taft arrived Tuesday afternoon from the armored cruiser Tennessee at Fort Monroe then traveled to Richmond for a twenty four hour visit. He dined at the Westmoreland club and attended an informal reception at the Commonwealth club. On Wednesday he toured battlefields near Richmond with Governor Martin and briefly stopped at Williamsburg to visit William and Mary College and Briton Parish Church dating to 1631.

Had close call Huron resident James D. McNair suffered severe burns in a Wessington gas explosion days ago. He was repairing a gasoline lighting system in Hitchinson hardware when the tank exploded and burning fuel engulfed him. A nearby bundle of horse blankets was used to smother the flames and save him. Recovery is expected though it will take weeks.
