Villa Bandits Take Saters Town in Chihuahua Capture

Reports from Gen. Jacinto Erevino say bandits led by Uribe Aceago and Martin Lopez surrounded the town of Saters, Chihuahua, fifty miles south of a key garrison. After a six hour engagement the government troop garrison of 200 under Capt. de Fuente evacuated. Villa himself not with the outlaws. Early clashes produced some captured and executed bandits as both sides traded heavy fire. Farm accident cuts off three year old son’s feet

Wheat Brings High Price at Waterloo

A. Vonberg arrived in America penniless in 1934 and after 23 years as a Rock Island railway section hand at Winslow he carried home a bag of gold from selling four carloads of wheat. Visit Towa as New Orleans group tours for farming study

About 100 adults from New Orleans will visit Towa to study crop conditioning and farming methods in Illinois Wisconsin and Michigan. Iowa Boy to Win Free Trip for Best Baby Beef

The Iowa boy who raises the state’s best baby beef in the coming year will earn a free trip to Washington with all expenses paid. County Superintendent H J Henderson and extension worker B Berry led a week of effort to recruit boys for the state baby beef contest. The campaign reached practically every district, yielding the largest county participation in the state.

Heat Victim Koontz Stricken At Iowa City Circus

Mayor George W. Koontz aged over seventy fainted in the big tent during a circus outing with his wife and daughter. He revived after being carried outdoors and transported home by automobile where his condition improved. Koontz once served as minority leader in the Iowa House of Representatives.

Telephone School a Success at Ames

The first year of the telephone engineering course at Iowa State College, begun last fall by Prof. C A Wright, shows seven electrical engineering seniors who took the course already employed by Iowa telephone companies. Due to this success the program will be expanded immediately with new equipment added.

To Teach Agriculture at Newton High School

Newton public schools have added an agriculture course with many rural pupils already enrolled or seeking enrollment. The program targets high school boys and is viewed as one of the best and most practical offerings in agricultural work.

State Canneries Open at Flynn Farm for Tomatos

The Iowa state board of control approved a plan to can tomatoes at the Flynn farm west of Olndh using honor prisoners from the Mort Madison penitentiary. Four acres were planted last spring with yields promising enough to produce at least 200 dozen gallon cans. Prices offered by private plants were insufficient when delivery and can costs are included. Revenue reports show insurance taxes up, collateral inheritance tax up, and interest on state funds down. Progressives nominate Basher for governor and file electors. Linn county names Henderson senator and Cahill representative. Artillery units drill for action with expected support from machine gun units to be mounted on Ford trucks.
