Flood Roars Through Berwind Colorado Killing Dozens

A cloudburst in Berwind Colorado drowned fourteen people and swept away seven houses occupied by Austrian and Italian workers and their families. The Colorado and Southern line to Berwind was washed out as a heavy flood roared through the canyon. Rumors put the death toll as high as twenty-five to thirty-five, with houses blown into the canyon during the night.

Passenger Train Collides With Freight Near Logansport

A Pennsylvania Railroad yard collision near Logansport Indiana left one dead Fireman Walter Eversole of Richmond pinioned beneath the engine and killed. The Cincinnati bound excursion struck a southbound freight as both trains entered the yards. About forty passengers were aboard with several seriously hurt. Officials cannot explain why the freight was on the main track.

A timber terrace collapse during a rehearsal at the Metropole theater in Berlin injures twenty people as sixteen feet of terrace fail above the stage. A Jacksonville special reports the American steamship Pecouie was wrecked in a fierce Monday gale off Florida. Twenty of her twenty two crew drowned after a giant wave struck the vessel causing cargo shift and sinking. Two crewmen reached Amelia Beach in a life boat and described the disaster. A separate note recounts amateur aeronaut John Williams, 38, dying in Cahokia Illinois when his parachute failed during a balloon ascent.
