Destruction of German Battle Cruiser Moltke Reported

Petrograd dispatch notes German fleet left Riga bay after a Riga battle in which Moltke and seven torpedo boats were sunk. The Duma president confirms Moltke lost along with three cruisers and seven torpedo boats. Germans attempted a descent near Pernov but Russians repulsed them. Moltke, 23,000 tons, 690 feet, carried 1,107 men, armed with ten 11 inch guns and twelve 6 inch guns and four 20 inch torpedo tubes.

Fontanelle editor and public figure W. H. McClure, 66, longtime Fontanelle Observer chief, postmaster, and Audubon Republican former editor, is buried at Fontanelle. POSTMASTER 8 ARRESTED IN IOWA THEFT CHARGE

Cedar Rapids postmaster Ken Wood Park, Jacob A. Oxley, was jailed on charges of failing to deposit money order funds. Oxley, held to the grand jury in $1500 bond, faced questions on short funds and a claimed burglary report. He claimed the safe was blown with no damage.

An eastbound Chicago Great Western passenger train no. 14 derailed about three miles north of Harlan yesterday. Every car left the track and though all passengers were shaken, only one porter suffered a broken leg. The incident was described as a miraculous escape.

Waa Schoolmate of Wallace Washington Preston Smithers, a Washington pioneer, is described as the youngest old man at 92 in Iowa.
