Bronze Tablet Honors Legion Leader in Boulder Dedication

A bronze tablet embedded in a large boulder memorializes Frederick W. Galbraith Jr. National Commander of the American Legion. Kid Corporal Scores Again Receives West Point Appointment

John Shoemaker, who enlisted at fourteen, served with the American Expeditionary Forces in France, and after high school in Phoenix Arizona, earned a presidential appointment to West Point. His selection came after support from Major Claude Decatur Jones and the Phoenix American Legion, filling the vacancy left by Charles Barrett.

Poland seeks Legion plan for unemployment relief efforts

The Polish government requested the American Legion share its unemployment program used for veterans in the United States. The Legion provided a detailed outline and received thanks from T Heinke of the consulate general. More than 400000 ex soldiers found at least temporary work in the first week of the drive, with over 600000 now in permanent positions thanks largely to the Legion. Faith and Confidence Key to Vets’ Reintegration

Maj. W. I. Lent, head of the U S veterans bureau employment service, told the American Legion at Indianapolis that faith in oneself is essential for disabled veterans.
