The Sioux Sues 4-H club met at Lynette Dirks's home on July 11 with thirteen members one visitor and one leader present. Talks covered iron ing board ironing courtesy and fair exhibits while games and songs followed a lunch served by Mrs Dirks. Reporter Sally Horton.
Rev J G Schissel presides at Sunday Masses 7:00 and 9:30 with confessions Saturdays 4 to 5 and 7 to 8 p.m. and before all Masses. Sr Catherine's Parish in Westfield Iowa lists Sunday Mass at 115 dollars.

The Jones Chautauqua opened a five days program with entertain ment in the afternoons and evenings. Wm Herschler sold a 160 acre farm 12 miles northwest of here in Union county to George Fickbohm at 120 dollars per acre. Akron held a four day baseball tournament and carnival Aug 28 to 31 1918 with Elk Point Le Mars Walthill and Hinton teams. Father McNally umpired and Dohrman Carnival Co showed. Dances at night. Wm Manning family traveling to Vancouver Banff and other northwest points. Akron won two baseball games 2 to 0 over Merrill and 1 to 0 over Centerville. Two social events honored Mrs Clarence Jones before her move to Iowa City. Adolph Metz laid cement for new residence on Reed street. New home of Mr and Mrs C W Campbell nearing completion. Mrs T D Lyons fractured both bones below knee in runaway accident. baby held escaped injury. Body of Charles Moore brought from Mt Pleasant for burial. parents lived with daughter Mrs James C Mellen now of Los Angeles. Local public schools opened 1913 14 term Sept 8 with A Huffman as superintendent. Col Charles Green went to Des Moines to take veterinarians exam. Sealed bids requested by the Akron Iowa Town Clerk for 185000 hospital bonds to be dated September 1 1963. Bids due September 4 1963 at 1 00 PM with open bidding following and final sale to the lowest interest cost. Bonds mature from 1964 to 1981 with rates up to four per bid, subject to attorney opinion and council approval.
Town council met with Mayor Pro Tem Allen Vander Helm presiding and members Hummel Nielsen Trotzig Barwick. Bills approved include pool, utilities and supplies. adjournment followed. The Iowa State Fair opened in Des Moines with 10,000 livestock entries and 3,000 4 H and FFA entries. features include exhibits, contests, parades, shows, and grandstand events through August 26. Budget and tax notices for Akron Community School District listed. public hearing set September 10 1963.
