N R Knapp 83 retired farmer dies at daughter in law’s home in Westfield. Funeral Thursday at 2 p.m. Westfield Congregational Church, Rev. Joseph Steele officiating. Burial Riverside Cemetery Akron. Survived by daughter in Akron, four grandchildren, two great grandchildren. Also items on Ladies Aid meeting rescheduled to Aug 20 for Vera Buryanek shower, local visits, polio patient Leona Harris at St. Joseph hospital Sioux City, and community notices including picnics, visits, and upcoming playground and story hour sessions.

Old settlers reunion and local news from Southwest Plymouth

Southwest Plymouth residents Dale Hunter and C. P. Knapp and T. A. Ross attended the old settlers' reunion in Merrill on August 8. Perry township musician Richard Vondrak entertained with accordion solos. Levi Beauchene and family traveled to Manhattan Kansas for Roy Beauchene's wedding and plan a visit. Orval Port and spouse took a fishing trip. E. R. Knapy sold part of their Hancock town farm.

Freddich Brienga of Riverside moves to Sioux City for a future home. T. A. Ross attends Elk Point high school band concert. he requested two pieces at the Wednesday event. Mr. and Mrs. Tywater of Fort Worth visit Hancock township. their daughter Mrs. Bobbie Lackman plans to return home with them after serving in Korea. Their car overturned after hitting loose gravel delaying departure. locals remark on crops with corn stalks and soybeans nearly touching the fence tops.

Sayles School hires new teacher for fall term

A new teacher was hired for Sayles School for the coming year and the school year will begin Monday September 1. Sunday dinner guests at Floyd Pletcher's home were Mr. and Mrs. Dalt Ballinger and Indiana visitors Mr. and Mrs. E. Elliott arrived Monday to visit Mrs. Elliott’s sisters Mrs. Scott Mrs. Fletcher and Mrs. Bennett and her brother Bill Nall.

Hold Family Picnic for Soldier on Furlough

A pleasant family reunion was held at Akron City Park on Thursday evening July 31 in honor of Pvt. Richard L. Witt son of Mr and Mrs Albert C Witt northeast of Akron. Richard home on a 21 day furlough recently graduated from Preventive Medicine course at Brooke Army Medical Center Fort Sam Houston Texas. Attendees included Mr and Mrs Albert Witt Richard Robert Lee Mrs Mary Witt Mr and Mrs Herman Reemis Mr and Mrs Jesse Kallsen Mr and Mrs Reinhold Witt.

Salads Take Center Stage At Club Meeting

Welch visited as members held roll call on My Favorite Salad. Georgia Vreugdenhil spoke on The Value of Salads in the Diet, and Mrs. Johngson described various salads. Each girl prepared a type, and the lunches proved edible. Next meeting planned at Carla Johnson’s home. Friday evening August 8.

Washburn Band and Benefit Dance Schedule Summary
