Merle Erickson, son of Herald Elk Point, survived a diving accident in the Sioux River a week ago and is reported to be recovering well. He suffered three fractured vertebrae and his condition is now considered favorable.
Hudson and Akron battled eleven innings with strong pitching by Lefty Swift of Akron who fanned 21 and held Hudson to six hits. C Swift hit a home run for Akron while B Schaber and J Schaber powered Hudson to a 3-2 victory in a tense extra frame contest.

L L Riter announced the Treton Riter Implement company will close out stock and dissolve the corporation. The Hawarden store sale began Saturday, Akron sale starts next week, Craig closing still undetermined. Founded 1890 Struble, moved to Ireton 1904, Craig store opened about 1916, Hawarden became parent store, Akron added 1930 amid post depression troubles.
