Akron officials line up transportation for rural pupils as Akron Public Schools start September 2. Superintendent Brown contacted parents in Portland Preston and Johnson townships to arrange eighth graders attending Akron High, transport contracts, and possible pupil transport from closed rural schools. A sizable rural-to-Akron ninth grade enrollment is expected. parents who were missed can contact Brown at the school building, phone 2961.

Hawarden Girl Weds Akron Man in Heartland Ceremony

Dorothy McPherson daughter of Mr and Mrs William McPherson Hawarden and William Harvey son of Mr and Mrs Orlando Harvey Akron were married at 2 pm Sunday July 28 at the Associated church manse Hawarden Rev Noel Ort Nert officiating. Adaville U B Church to Observe 75th Anniversary

Adaville U B Church marks its 75th anniversary with a Sunday program starting at 10 a m Sunday school and 11 a m preaching by Dr MacCanon, followed by a pot-luck dinner. Kerrs Observe Golden Wedding With Open House

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kerr longtime Union county South Dakota residents celebrate their golden wedding anniversary with an open house at their farm home six miles west of Akron. They married in 1896 and have lived in their current home since 1899. Friends and neighbors are invited to call Sunday afternoon or evening to help observe the occasion.

Residents visit relatives as new spring rain boosts crops

Mrs W J Davidson visited relatives in Wa dena Minnesota while Arthur Johnson returned from Sweden. Mrs D L Waterbury attended her son Harold Gillespie's Chicago wedding. Orville Tapper, M P at Fort Dix, arrived to visit family. Ramona Popken attended the International Luther League convention in Ames as Craig Luther League delegate. About 2 500 attendees from the U S and Canada. After weeks of drought a rainstorm dropped 1.16 inches, reviving drying yields and boosting crop prospects. Cooler postrain temperatures also assist farming conditions.

Preston Pearls 4-H Club Meeting Reports July 31

The Preston township 4-H girls met Wednesday afternoon July 31 with each member sharing completed garments.
