Miss Marjorie Oleson daughter of George Oleson Eau Claire Wis a former music instructor in the Akron public school married Kenneth Warren Anderson son of Mr and Mrs Victor Anderson of Akron at Our Savior s Lutheran church in Eau Claire on Saturday July 31 1948 at 8 oclock Rev Gilbert Halverson performed the ceremony The bride wore a white slipper satin gown with fitted bodice full skirt train and finger tip veil The maid of honor and bridesmaids wore white dotted swiss gowns The couple will reside at 286 West Franklin Minneapolis Minn Akron friends extend congratulations and best wishes

Akron Man Named On Draft Board

The Plymouth county draft board will include George A. Phelps of Kingsley Ray Edmonds of LeMars and Henry A. Stryzewski of Akron. Appointed by Governor Blue, they will receive commissions from President Truman. Phelps previously chaired the board after World War II. Registration runs September 1 to 18 with no calls before October. men aged 18 to 25 must register, 18 year olds may enlist. Brigadier General Charles Grahl heads the draft in Iowa with few changes in staff.

Storm Lake Nine Upsets Akron 6 to 1 in Baseball

The Storm Lake White Caps defeated Akron 6 to 1 after a strong start and solid defense. Petrzelka, Locklin, and Erickson led Storm Lake with multiple hits while Bob Tucker and Dugan paced Akron’s offense before a trio of double plays by Storm Lake sealed the win.

Akron Ball Team Wins Two Games Sunday

The Akron baseball team won both of their Sunday road games. At Lake Park Iowa Akron crushed them 16 to 3 with 22 hits including a Lefty Swift homer and a Bob Tucker triple. In Sibley they edged the locals 5 to 3 as Cotton Hartman pitched well and Akron built a big seventh inning rally.

Plans for the Plymouth county fair unfold for a three day show on August 16 to 18 at LeMars. Future Farmers of America and 4-H members will display livestock with Jim Paulin as president of the sponsoring Agricultural Society.
