Special to the Register-Tribune from Brookings reports Akron High School students Marlin Campbell and Margaret Jacobs have been invited to attend the seventh annual Scholarship Recognition Day at South Dakota State College on Saturday, April 18. The event, sponsored by I. F. Michaels of Chicago Bridge & Iron, honors high school seniors excelling academically and showing college potential. About 450 seniors are expected, with 114 scholarships totaling $19,000 available.

Tractor Crash Fatality Near Hawarden
Elsie Larson aged 68 of Hawarden died when a tractor tipped and crushed him on his son Loyal Larson’s farm west of town. The incident occurred Monday on the farm site. Further details were not provided.
