The She Register-Tribune published in Akron announces subscription rates for one year at 2 dollars, six months at 1 dollar, and three months at 50 cents. The paper is issued each Thursday and entered as second class mail on September 26, 1901.
Wilbur Harrington traveled from Omaha for a Sunday visit with his parents. A large crowd attended St Catherine's Guild at Mrs Jno Bertrand's home. Upcoming meetings are April 22 at Mrs Frank Welch's home and April 16 at Community Hall. Betty Jane Kapfer, four, died in Sioux City after illness. funeral in Akron. Community members hosted and visited across Sioux City and LeMars areas. multiple weekend social and church events noted.
Sunday guests at the Ben Hillrichs home included John Tapper and family plus El don Kallsen of Craig and the Tapper and Klemme families. Violet Kallsen visited Ramona Johnson Monday evening. William McNamara and children visited Walter Mohan Thursday. John Tapper and family visited Jesse Kallsen Sunday evening. Sunday dinner guests at Henry Stryzewaki’s were local families.
Sioux City man the state president of the Izaak Walton League attended a Merrill high school meeting and residents show strong sportsmanship. Obituaries note Mrs. Nellie Buchter of the farm, with survivors in Sioux City and Seattle. Scout badges earned by Milnerville girls Bonnie and Gloria Milner.
Sunday services at 8 pm April 18 and a Brule Creek Luther League program at Luther Hall April 16. Ladies' Aid at Mrs Esther Hultgren’s April 22. Numerous local visits and gatherings noted, with many neighbors listed: Sommervold, Wilcox, Vick, Ericson, Sykes, Hultgren, Hamilton, Friesen, and others. Wedding bells hinted for Garland.
Mrs. Joel Gatewood and her son from Sioux City have been spending time in Garland, sharing family visits and local activities with residents.
Agricultural agent Paul Farlow of the Illinois Central railroad led two soybean meetings in Plymouth County under Ames extension department. About forty farmers attended each session, one at the Farm Bureau office in LeMars and the other in Hinton, with Farlow noting soybeans are more widely grown in Indiana and Illinois than in Iowa.
A speaker outlined practical soybean farming steps including ground preparation plaiting cultivation and harvest. He noted soybeans perform well on acidic soil and forecast rising Iowa acreage amid a call for farmers seeking hired help to contact the National Reemployment Service LeMars Iowa with no charge for the service.
