Akron student Joel Easton son of Mr and Mrs Darrell Easton will join Iowa State University next fall with special recognition. He ranks in the top two percent of Akron Community School and will receive a $100 scholarship and a recognition certificate. He plans to pursue engineering.

A collection of recipes attributed to Mrs Helen Adams from the 1903 Methodist Church Akron cookbook, published by the Akron Register Tribune. James Jensen Celebrates 90th Birthday in Akron Ohio

James Andrew Jensen of 441 Haskell St Akron observed his 90th birthday on Sunday April 4. Born April 4 1886 on a farm near Moorhead Iowa he later moved to Lincoln Kansas and Turin Iowa. He married Mabel Dilley in 1911 and they had a son S W Jensen now in Fort Worth Texas. He worked as cashier at Turin Savings Bank and Chatsworth Savings Bank before moving to Akron to work for Wells Oil Co and later entering radio and electrical service retiring in 1972 after a long career.

The Akron 4-H club met at Michelle Eskra's home on Monday March 1 1976 at 7 30 pm. Kelly Krohn led the pledge, members described unique uses of nature for roll call, and a treasurer's report was presented. New and old business were addressed, new flags ordered, and illustrated talks were given by Tex ture Nancy McPherson Space Teresa Nelson Shapes and Forms Becky Wilmot Lines Kim Krohn Color Wanda Sheveland. Yoko Ishimaru Graduates From Sophia University Tokyo

Yoko Ishimaru graduates Sophia University Tokyo on March 25 and begins work at Industrial Bank of Japan on April 1. She spent about a year in Akron 1970 71 and is a 1971 Akron High School graduate. She was a YFU student staying with the Arden Johnson family in Akron.

Akron Senior Citizen Club Meeting Highlights

The Akron Senior Citizen club met on Monday April 5 with 57 members and 3 guests. Edith led the meeting as members with April birthdays were honored with a song. Cards and bingo followed, lunch was served, and the afternoon was enjoyed by all.

Akron TOPS 893 Holds Regular Meeting

TOPS 893 members met Wednesday March 31. Secretary and treasurer reports were approved. The adult best loser lost 2 percent that week. Installation of officers is planned for next week with a special evening. A new secretary was re elected after the other secretary moved away.

Nursing home notes list numerous calls by Minnie Johnson and others to residents such as Anna Gale, Ricka Oltman, Lizzie Tindall, Ursula Strobel, and Helen Horton. The April bulletin board featured Easter themed decorations by Joy Dirks and Julie Nason. Residents enjoyed coffee, piano music by Marie Degen, and bake goods. several Westfield, Sioux City, and Denver visitors are named along with outings to see relatives and plane departures.
