W J Davidson Dies of Heart Attack at Farm
W J Davidson widely known Akron resident and former business man died Monday afternoon April 1 1946 of a heart attack while working at his farm two miles northwest of town. He operated Akron Feed Mills before selling it about three and a half years ago and then focused on his two nearby farms. Funeral services set for Friday at 2:00 p m at the home and 2:30 p m at the Masonic Temple with Masonic burial at Riverside cemetery. An obituary will follow next week.

Charles Roland Fletcher and Margaret Mackey of Akron were married at Hiawatha Kansas on March 28 1946. Fletcher returns from European theatre service and runs a filling station with his brother in law Francis Mackey. They reside in Akron with many friends sending best wishes. Francis Mackay and Frances Scott wed in Akron First Christian church on March 31 1946 with Rev. C R Dayton officiating. Frances Scott is Pearl Scott’s youngest daughter and Francis Mackey is Frank Mackey’s son. The couples both have spouses in local service and teaching, and the newlyweds receive best wishes from their friends.

Akron veteran's long road to health after Philippine service
Pvt Robert Snockson of Akron Iowa survived a chest wound from a land mine on Mindanao with a lung and heart displaced. He received plasma and blood transfusions at aid stations and Leyte General Hospital before a return to Fitzsimmons General Hospital for further surgery to remove scar tissue and reinflate the lung. He credits Denver blood donors for the ongoing transfusions and asks others to sign up at the Red Cross Blood Donor Center to aid wounded service members awaiting operations.

Fire Department Keeps Busy Here
The Bremen fire department answered four calls in a week. Late Thursday a rubbish fire near Hobart Ross's building by the power plant was extinguished with no damage. Saturday a field fire southwest of town threatened meat cooking on a hike. Sunday near Huckert farm, a grass fire spread to a cornfield and farmyard causing damage to unused buildings and a dwelling. Monday evening a shed at Wim Harkness residence burned, blamed on a boy and a match.
