Cancer Society crusade aims to curb disease in Plymouth County
Last year seven times more Towns died of cancer than traffic accidents. The American Cancer Society plans research service and education to conquer cancer, including a door to door fundraising crusade during April Cancer Control Month. Plymouth County kick off is April 6 led by Rev. Alvern Kinrade with Norris Hawkins as treasurer and area chairmen across towns including Westfield Akron LeMars Remsen and Kingsley. Township and town chairmen coordinates are listed for western Plymouth county communities.

Leland Sargisson of Kingsley won high honors in Plymouth County for the 1958 National Selected Five Acre DeKalb Corn Growing Contest. His yield reached 133.01 bushels per acre with DeKalb Variety 423. Each county winner received an engraved County Championship plaque. Awards are presented locally.
