The well known Western Ranger Buffalo Bill Cody born 1839 in Scott County Tows later moved to Kansas with his father Isaac Cody. He served as a pony express rider, a Red-legged Scout under General Blunt, and a hunter for the Kansas Pacific Railroad where he killed 4980 buffalo.
