James Wm. Wallack, prominent 19th century actor, died on the rails between Petersburg and Richmond while traveling from Aiken South Carolina to the North. Born February 24 1818 in London, he rose from child performer to star of Wallack's company. He married Mrs Sefton and was known for classics like Oliver Twist and Henry Dunbar. His funeral was held at the Church of the Transfiguration with a large theatrical attendance and interment at Greenwood.
