Slovak Chamber Orchestra To Open Aiken Concert Series
The Slovak Chamber Orchestra directed by Bohdan Warchal will perform October 2 at 8 p.m. in St. John's United Methodist Church Aiken as the first of four concerts in the 1982 1983 Aiken Community Concert series. Admission is by season membership, some remain available, with details via Mrs Howard Lee Miller or at the door. The series also features Bill Schustik on November 1 Trio Sonata January 28 and the New Christy Minstrels March 18.

Women and arts events fill Aiken schedule in October
The Women's Aglow Fellowship meets October 2 at Duff's Famous Smorgasborg with Jo Casdorph as speaker. Weekly intercessory prayers run October 5, 6, and 7 at various homes. Karate and tennis classes begin at Smith Hazel Center with fees from 5 to 20 dollars. Arts and crafts, quilted garments, mime, and Slimnastics classes start October 6–11 at H.O. Weeks and city centers with varying fees. The National Players perform The Taming of the Shrew October 23 at USC Aiken gym. Tickets go on sale October 4 at the Aiken County Museum and through the Aiken Junior Women’s Club. general admission is 3 dollars, students 2 dollars.
