Police and volunteers comb a rural stretch for Jacob Wilkie a two year old who wandered off with a babysitter near his home after being taken to a mailbox on Thursday. Sheriff Jim Moore said crews press on while hoping for answers and preparing for the worst.
A stolen Chevrolet Geo was found drifting in the ocean about 50 feet from shore at Atlantic Beach. Police say it was taken early Wednesday and driven onto the beach at low tide, then carried out by rising water. Local resident Russell Skeeters called it a rare sight. The car was registered to Joyce Gore of Atlantic Beach.
Florence AP reports a kerosene heater leak may have started the blaze that killed two local women, Ethel Mae Watson, 69, and Pearl Horton, 79, whose bodies were found Wednesday in the residence they shared.
