A 16 year old SAHS student was arrested Friday after a CO2 BB gun that resembled a Glock was found in his backpack. The gun, three CO2 cartridges, and BBs were discovered in the front pocket. The student was booked for disorderly conduct and possession of a weapon on school property.
After two days of heavy rain downtown parkways show pooling. City officials plan interconnection with storm drains to speed absorption within 24 hours and may add plants barriers or pedestrian bridges to deter access and improve safety.
Public Works Director Larry Moris clarified during parkway reconstruction that the parkways were not intended as ponds. LeDuc supported this, stating the parkways function as detention ponds with rapid drainage rather than water retention. Other Park Avenue parkways with gentler slopes drain more steadily as the project aims to slow storm water runoff.

Three new precincts Belvedere 74 South Airien 75 and South Airien 76 were created and the Nov 2 election deadline to register is Saturday.
Police and sheriff officials remind residents to keep trick or treating to the early evening on Sunday October 31. They plan increased patrols and caution drivers to watch for children as neighborhoods stay lit and welcoming.
