Silver Bluff road plan faces public backlash and delays

At a Silver Bluff meeting about converting a 24 foot two lane road into five lanes with a grass median and five foot sidewalks, residents criticized the plan. DOT officials said the current plan is not final and public comments will shape the path forward. If approved, the project would trigger an environmental study, a second public hearing next summer, right of way purchases in fall, and construction begins in fall 2009 with an eight million dollar budget. Comments accepted through October 27 to Michael Peterson at SCDOT.
