A 17-year-old charged with murder in the death of 15-year-old Melanie Richey from Columbia County Ga waived extradition from Maryland. He was held in Montgomery County Md and expected to be returned to South Carolina this week after his arrest.

The Aiken County Department of Social Services reports 12 food stamp ceases saving 2154 annually and 47 benefit reductions saving 7415 annually since January. Wilbur Smith and Associates will study Verenes Industrial Park and Aiken Municipal Airport to spur growth. Rezoning Aiken Area I aims to balance school enrollments

Area I in Aiken County will re zone middle and high school attendance areas for the 1995 96 school year. Middle school boundaries shift due to the new Aiken Middle School on Wire Road redistributing students among Aiken Kennedy and Schofield Middle Schools.
