Plans to Develop Parks in Aiken with Fountain and Mini-Park
The Aiken Parks Commission chaired by John Elliott outlines plans for small area parkway developments using a large fountain donated by the Aiken High School graduating class six years ago. About 75 percent of Virginia Acres work is done with city crews removing debris and underbrush. The mini-park at Laurens and Park Avenue reports no vandalism and steady community support. The commission suggests using federal funds for centipede planting to cut mowing time, noting 16 workers available for parkway and street work and six steady in summer.
