Helicopter Ambulance Explained To North Augusta Rotary
Tom Schneider of University Hospital explains the helicopter ambulance service to the North Augusta Rotary. He notes speed and smooth ride justify the Bell Jet Ranger 206 but it will not replace land ambulances due to cost. The chopper costs 650 per flight hour with 325 to 330 expected per emergency in Aiken County. Local services and law enforcement are not charged. The craft seats one patient and an attendant, two in emergencies. Meeting host Lucky Walker invites Rotary members to weekly Tuesday sessions at Quincy's Steak House.
