In the Aguan valley Honduras floodwaters from Hurricane Fifi recede and hundreds flee rooftops and trees to refugee centers. They pack classrooms seeking food and clothing with powdered milk for babies and scarce fruit while blankets and supplies remain unavailable.
Police report four year old Allison Mechem, daughter of Taft Broadcasting Corp. board chairman Charles S. Mechem Jr., was abducted while playing near home in Cincinnati Ohio. A $2000 ransom was demanded in at least two phone calls. FBI joined the search as investigators pursued leads.
