Man charged in assault and kidnapping case in Aiken County
Houston Travis Autery, 27, was charged with first degree assault and battery kidnapping and possession of a weapon during a violent crime after allegedly assaulting a 23 year old man at an Edgefield Highway motel She said Autery forced the victim into a vehicle threatened to kill him shot at a gas station and pistol whipped him The victim was found on Indian Springs Road and later described multiple assaults before fleeing Autery was jailed at the Aiken County Detention Center with bond not yet reported

Fatal house fire ruled accidental in Aiken County
Investigators from the Aiken County Sheriff's Office determined the fatal blaze at 72 Alex Johnson Drive near Couchton started in the kitchen. Norman Scott and Sadie Scott, both 85, died from smoke inhalation after deputies found the home engulfed around 7:20 a.m. on September 16.
