About 400 Republicans gathered for a Picnic in the Park sponsored by the Aiken County Women’s Republican Club. Speakers included Marshall Cain, running for House District 85, who urged higher public education funding efficiency and parental involvement. Other speakers covered race for lieutenant governor John Stroud, Congress hopeful Tony Panuccio, and state officials. Senator Strom Thurmond and Ed Young did not attend. Daniel I.
