Street fighting flared in Beirut's eastern suburbs with Muslim leftists clashing with Christian right wingers using machine guns mortars and grenades. Snipers menaced pedestrians as officials assessed the Martyr's Square area and residents resumed limited outings after a cease-fire weekend.
Secretary Kissinger and Soviet Foreign Minister Gromyko completed another round of nuclear arms talks and plan to meet again in Europe next month after a Kremlin decision on unresolved issues. Kissinger remains in New York through Wednesday for a United Nations General Assembly speech outlining U.S. foreign policy and meetings with foreign ministers. He is scheduled to meet Spanish Foreign Minister Cortina to discuss renewing the treaty covering U.S. bases in Spain.

Clarence Grooms FBI Aiken said they will be held in Richland County Jail in Columbia. Bond set at 75000 dollars each. Michael faces March 24 Mitchell Shopping Center Farmers Merchants Bank and September 9 Clearwater Farmers Merchants Bank robberies. Truitt faces the Clearwater robbery. Prosecution will be handled by the U.S. District Attorney in Columbia.
U S consumption in mid winter last year reached about 2.4 million barrels daily of imported refined products mainly fuel oil. Refin ed imports made up roughly 14 percent of national refined product use. If Ford drops the $2 per barrel crude fee, nationwide petroleum prices may fall about 3 cents a gallon. if producers raise price on domestically produced oil freed from controls, prices could rise about 3 cents a gallon. Officials note refiners have held back amid efforts in Congress to reimpose price controls.
