End to ban on gays serving openly in U S military
The United States retired the don't ask don't tell policy with effect Tuesday at 12 01 am allowing gays to serve openly. President Obama Defense Secretary Panetta and Admiral Mullen praised the milestone saying it strengthens national security and fairness while Congress remains divided on broader equality issues.
