IRIS infrared aid aids Irmo firefighters rescue drill

IRMO firefighters tested Cairns IRIS an infrared imaging system mounted on helmets to locate a simulated child during a training drill. The seven pound unit distinguishes body heat from fire and electrical heat aiding rapid rescue and hot spot detection. Corporate donations and taxes will fund the $25 000 device arriving in six weeks.
