Mozingo eulogized as champion of education in SC
Darlington County state Senator James Pierce Mozingo III known as Spot was buried beside his brother Wilbur at Grove Hill Cemetery after a funeral at Darlington Presbyterian Church. Gov. John West, Senators Thurmond and Hollings attended as West praised Mozingo for 34 years in the Senate and a career as a top SC attorney and educator advocate. Mozingo died of a heart attack in Columbia at 59, four days after losing a Democratic primary appeal.
