Sanford used European charter jets for state travel

AP finds Gov Mark Sanford and state officials charged taxpayers more than 63,000 for seven passenger charter jets on trips in Europe in 2007 and 2008. Records show 43,000 for a June 2007 France to Germany and Estonia journey and 20,000 for Poland to Czech Republic Germany and Switzerland. Commercial fares would have saved 41,223 though officials cited tight meeting schedules. A former development director recalls Europe typically used cheaper commercial travel in previous administrations.
