York County deputies responded to a report of a helicopter heading toward the Catawba Nuclear Station near Lake Wylie Saturday night. A military helicopter was observed, prompting a jet response and an alert at the Savannah River site.
The Aiken County School District will honor its teachers of the year at a banquet in the Aiken Municipal Hall at 7 pm. The district teacher and three Horror Council teachers will be announced along with other school winners. The event is co sponsored by Public Education Partners.
