Dispute over PACT testing grows in South Carolina
State Education Superintendent Inez Tenenbaum plans to add social studies and science PACT tests in May for two of six grades, drawing criticism from the Education Oversight Committee. Lawmakers argue the 1998 Education Accountability Act requires testing in all four core subjects in all six grades. The debate includes support from principals and calls to fund the Act fully, with NAEP proposed as an alternative for some grades. The Associated Press contributed.
