Democratic candidates Judy Hamilton and James Richardson face Sandy Haskell and Larry Murphy in the primary. Voters pick a party’s ballot only. a candidate must win 50 percent plus one to avoid a runoff, possibly Sept. 29. The winner serves the remainder of the term ending December 2010.
