Five-week old baby dies after brain-dead mother delivery
Susan Anne Catherine Torres died at Children’s National Medical Center after surgery to repair a perforated intestine. The 26-year-old NIH researcher died a day after giving birth when life support was removed following a brain cancer battle. The premature infant’s condition worsened over the weekend and she died from heart failure.
