Lawyer Motley's personal stake in tobacco settlement
Charleston based attorney Ronald Motley helped craft the landmark 368 billion settlement with tobacco companies. He recalls his mother’s death from emphysema in 1964 and says the case, which also targets asbestos and other products, changed public health costs and his life. Motley, 52, leads Ness Motley firm with six offices and is among the nation’s top paid lawyers.
