Tree Storm Spurs Warnings As Roads Block And Homes Suffer
A Monday storm caused multiple trees to fall in North Augusta. One tree blocked West Five Notch Road and another on Alta Vista Avenue near Grant Avenue remained blocked Tuesday morning. A tree damaged the home of Elmer and Diane Smith and impacted a boat, truck, SUV, and the kitchen and bathroom but no injuries were reported. Trees also narrowly missed the North Augusta Community Center behind Brookside Avenue. Authorities urge avoiding travel unless necessary. Reporter Bill Bengtson contributed.
