Pine Log Road repaving underway in South Carolina

Crews are milling asphalt on Pine Log Road from Silver Bluff Road to Whiskey Road in preparation for new asphalt. The project targets deep ruts at the Silver Bluff Pine Log intersection and is funded by leftover stimulus money. Traffic remains allowed with control in place as work continues toward completion next year.

DOE and DOD to use Savannah River Site for regular military training

DoD and DOE plan to expand non live fire training on Savannah River Site to ease a growing land shortfall. Army training requires large tracts of land, and SRS offers undeveloped terrain near Fort Gordon. Training would include air combat, convoy, urban seizure, and water purification, with strict environmental protections and post training restoration. Public meeting set for Graniteville with comments due by October 10.
