Senate approves clear warranty terms bill for consumers
The Senate passed a bill requiring manufacturers to spell out warranty coverage in writing. A full warranty must promise replacement or repair within a reasonable time at no charge, with damages possible if promised terms are not honored. The measure goes to the House, which previously killed similar efforts. Senator Magnuson expects House passage this time.
