Ossie W. Cochran 70 of Gloverville died Tuesday in the Veterans Administration Hospital Augusta after an extended illness. Services were held Thursday at Poseys Chapel Langley with Rev. Thomas Rogers officiating. Burial in Langley cemetery. He was a World War I veteran and widower of Lillie Mae Wilhelm Cochran. Survived by a daughter Sandra Hartley of Coos Bay Oregon and four brothers Robert Cochran Stonewall Mississippi Thad Cochran Newton Mississippi Thurmond Cochran and Ralph Cochran Taladega Alabama. Bearers were Richard Freeman Harold Freeman Millard Brown Irabel Goodwin T J Ford and Hubert Addie.

Beech Island shooting leaves Gravette dead hours later
Johnson said Gravette was shot six times with a .22 caliber pistol and ran 271 feet before collapsing beside a car. He died at University Hospital. Mrs. LaRussa, estranged wife of Jimmy Ray LaRussa, lived with Gravette and his wife in Beech Island. No eye witnesses found. LaRussa held at Aiken County jail after surrendering at the Kimberly-Clark plant.
