Marshall Irving Harris 74 of Aiken South Carolina died September 7 2008 at home. He was born in Baltimore Maryland son of Frank and Mary Ellen Harris and a 1960 University of Illinois graduate. He and wife Barbara Gagne Harris owned Harris Music in Rockville for 32 years and he held leadership roles in Wheaton Maryland organizations. He moved to Aiken in 2007 from Naples Florida and is survived by Barbara, two sons Christopher Harris Kannapolis North Carolina and Matthew Harris Rockville Maryland a sister Marian Woods Summerville and four grandchildren. Private funeral services are planned with George Funeral Home assisting. Memorials may be sent to Regency Hospice Aiken or Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International.

Jacoby Fields 18 of Walterboro and Travis Harris 19 of Smoaks were charged with murder and first degree burglary in the slaying of Colleton County Deputy Dennis Compton 39 who was shot during a burglary call near Smoaks on August 6. The suspects face bond hearings Tuesday with possible death penalty decision unresolved.

Man charged in another's death in North Charleston
In North Charleston a 21 year old man is charged with involuntary manslaughter after police say he shot a friend at a party. Richard Hymne II was shot in the shoulder around 5 am Sunday and died shortly after. Witnesses say Josh Nicely was handling a handgun he thought was unloaded. He awaits a bond hearing and may have no attorney yet.
