A public lecture on Christian Science healing runs tonight at 8 at First Church of Christ Scientist in Aiken with Patricia Lyeth Webb. The Aiken Augusta Audubon Society gathers at 8 at Augusta Richmond County Public Library with Bob and Fran Butterworth presenting Adventures in Canoeing and Kayaking. Tryouts for Come Slowly Eden at Aiken Community Playhouse begin 7:30 tonight for five men and two women. Pairs and Spares host a 5 pm covered dish at H Odell Weeks Center and plan a talent show and Body Dynamics Plus. The group meets Sunday at Weeks Center. H OPE Singles plan Vegas Night at Steeplechase Saturday and an afternoon meeting Sunday.
The Aiken High Band Boosters invite members to the first meeting of the school year at 7:30 p.m. in the school cafeteria after a 7 p.m. pep band performance in the quadrangle. Prospective members may join at the meeting with a $5 per person dues.
The New Ellenton Fire Department will host a family portrait fundraiser at the firehouse on Saturday and Sunday Oct 12. The Master Artist Studios of Charlotte NC will provide each participating family a 8 by 10 inch portrait for a $10 fee. Studio reps will seek local residents with letters of introduction from fire officials.
Mrs. Paul A. Hartt of Farmington Hills announces the engagement of daughter Heather Margaret to Dr. David Russell Weaver, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert K. Weaver of Aiken. The wedding is planned for Oct. 15 at First Presbyterian Church in Farmington Hills. Heather is a Farmington Hills High and Carnegie Institute graduate, employed at Botsford General Hospital. David Weaver, a USC chemistry graduate and West Virginia Osteopathic Medicine School graduate, is a resident physician at Botsford General Hospital and a member of several medical associations.
Christine Elizabeth Cox and William David Patterson become engaged. The wedding plans unfold amid family ties to Charlotte Clearwater and Fort Mill with education paths at USC Aiken and North Augusta High, and roles at North Augusta Country Club.
