Second Life Sentence Handed Defendant In Slaying Robbery
George W. Scott pleaded guilty to the 1991 murders of John R. Perry and David Willis and armed robbery of the 19 Corner Shop on S.C. 19. He received 25 years for the robbery to run consecutively with a life sentence for Perry’s murder and an additional life sentence for Willis’s killing. Barabara Morgan of the Second Circuit said no aggravating circumstances were proven, making the death penalty unavailable. Scott could be eligible for parole in about 30 years, though the violent nature of the crimes suggests a longer wait.
